Happy New Year from The Sunshine Therapy Dogs team!
We are so excited for what’s to come in 2025.
But first – let’s recap 2024.
2024 was a year of tremendous growth for our team. Not only did we launch this fabulous new website to better serve you all, but we worked hard to expand our services outside of the Greater Toronto Area. That means providing access to therapy dogs to even more Ontarians in need of mental health support, not just those in Toronto. This was a huge goal for us, and we are so proud to now offer our services to:
- Durham Region (Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, Uxbridge)
- York Region (Markham, Vaughan, Aurora, Newmarket, King City)
- Peel (Mississauga and Brampton)
- Halton (Oakville and Burlington)
- Hamilton-Niagara (Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek and St. Catharines)
- Peterborough
- Guelph
In 2025, we will continue to build up our services in this region, providing more visits across a greater part of Ontario than ever before! And of course, we will be recruiting for more volunteers to help make this all possible. To learn more about volunteering with us, check out our Volunteer Page.
It’s always great to reflect upon the past year and see just how large our impact has become. It also makes us so grateful for our incredible volunteers who believe in our cause and want to support our mission.
In 2024:
- We welcomed 192 new volunteers to our organization!
- Over 3000 hours of were volunteered by our team for Sunshine Therapy Dogs visits.
- Durham, a new region to our services, became our fastest growing region! We are so pleased to be able to serve this region.
- We had our first doggie reach over 100 visits!! Thank you, Tico!
