Alan is a Director and Portfolio Manager at ScotiaMcLeod. He started his first charity at the age of 27 – a dog rescue – and has shown a weakness for founding social purpose organizations since then. He has held senior roles in a variety of civil society initiatives and has sat on several charity Boards of Directors.
Kendra is a professional therapist and a life-long dog lover. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Biology and has worked at an animal hospital as a veterinarian assistant. Kendra’s experience as a therapist, her fondness for dogs and her ability to “juggle many balls” make her the perfect manager of our operations.
Linda has worked for many years in the not-for-profit sector, with a particular focus on workplace health and safety. In recent years, she has taken a particular interest in creating psychologically safe spaces, both at work and in community. Linda is owned by two English bulldogs, Dolly & Oliver.
Brenda works in social services for the City of Toronto. She is a certified equine assisted living facilitator practicing at Stable Works in Ajax. When not pursuing her passion for horses she is out with her Lab Gracie.
Jennifer is a seasoned project director and producer who specializes in bringing big ideas to life and communities together. She is the proud paw-rent of two good boys, Jaxon and Remi, who are the calm (and the chaos!) in her day and the drivers behind her contagious fun-loving energy.
Jane holds a PhD in Anthropology and has successfully led and managed culture, tourism, and development projects both locally and internationally, with a focus on community empowerment and inclusion. She’s kept busy by Miri, her French Bulldog Beagle mix, who enjoys agility, scent work, barn hunt and playdates.
Janice is a marketing research senior strategist at FTS. She has always had “a dog or two” in her life and has been volunteering with her dog Hugo for two years now. In addition to these volunteer roles, she has also helped us with events.
Jocelyn is our Vice-President and Vice-Chair of our Board of Directors. She works as a Business Analyst at Raymond James and also owns an Amazon business (Belladdy) named after her two dogs, Bella and Addie. She spends her spare time keeping active with her dogs and trains as a member of the Canadian National Dodgeball team.
Michael is our Secretary He has held senior management roles in Fortune 500 software companies for 30 years. In the not-for-profit world, Michael worked for TV Ontario and The Art Gallery of Ontario. He is “in between” dogs at the moment.
Kate Carcone is a full-service real estate professional, formerly a marketing executive, who has been surrounded by dogs since she was a baby. Kate sits on the Board of Directors of Kerry’s Place (autism services). She is one of our most active volunteers with her dog Gnocchi.
Pat is a retired Pathology Supervisor. She worked at Michael Garron Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children. She was also the Union Local President at MGH for 17 years. Pat and her dog Gracey have done over 100 visits on our behalf.
Amanda is a Senior Vice-President at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and sits on a variety of Boards of Directors. She loves being involved in community and volunteer organizations and is “Mom” to Mattie (8) and Zoey (13).
Maggi is a training and behaviour specialist in Toronto, Ontario who works with dogs of all breeds and ages. Through her company Tailspin Petworx, her goal is to help dogs and their people have relationships built on trust and joy and to educate owners on creating safe, happy dogs. She has special interests in fearful dogs and helping them develop resilience and confidence through consent and choice-based positive reinforcement protocols.
Maggi’s certification is Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed. It is through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, (CCPDT), the only independent certification board for dog trainers in North America. Part of maintaining her certification is continuing education on all aspects of learning and behaviour.
