Sunshine Therapy Dogs expands to the Durham region!

Sunshine Therapy Dogs is expanding to the Durham Region, and we need volunteers! Learn more about volunteering with us on our website.

Durham region - we are looking for volunteers! Have you been looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you have a dog who loves to spread joy? If so, we would love to meet with you on March 9, 2024!

This past January alone, we made more than 100 visits across the Greater Toronto Area with our therapy dogs! We are so grateful that awareness is growing for our service and that we are making such a big impact in our communities, we love bringing our trained dogs to hospitals, schools, retirement residences, conferences and more to brighten up people’s day!

The need for support in times of stress, loneliness and anxiety is strong and widespread. This is why we are excited to expand outside of the GTA! A few months ago we held our first assessment in Whitby, Ontario and welcomed 7 new therapy dogs to our family, supporting our visits in the east end. With growing demand, we are looking to recruit more volunteers in Oshawa, Whitby, Uxbridge, Ajax, and neighboring areas to support our visits east of Toronto.

Our next assessment in Whitby will be on March 9, 2024. This is where our specialists will evaluate you and your dog’s fit for the program, and is the perfect opportunity to learn more about us.

Interested in volunteering with your dog for Sunshine Therapy Dogs, or just want to learn more about the assessment process? Check out our “Volunteer” page here to learn more! Fill out the form and a specialist on our team will reach out and be able to answer all of your questions.

In the meantime, follow us on socials (Facebook and Instagram) for a sneak peak into what it’s like to volunteer for Sunshine Therapy Dogs!
